BOTOX® is a highly purified, naturally occurring protein which is injected into specific muscle with a very fine point needle. It has the ability to very precisely relax the muscles to which it is applied. This relaxation lasts for a number of months after which the treated muscles gradually return to their original condition.

Acne is a common medical condition that affects upto 80 percent of adolescents & adults at some point in their lives. It is caused by a bacteria know as Corynaebactrium Acne. The bacterium grows in the blocked sebaceous glands of the skin and causes Acne. These bacteria release molecules called porphyrins. When these porphyrins are exposed to certain wavelength of light they produce free radicals that kill the bacteria.
Blu-U light therapy involves use of visible blue wavelength of light with Levulan. The Levulan (aminolevulinic acid) helps increase photosensivity & the Blu-light activates a toxic environment inside the pores and kills the acnecausing bacteria. Once the P.acne bacterium is removed, inflammation diminishes & acne clears up.

Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Evolence and Esthelis
Nulook Medspa uses three different base types Fillers: Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and a Calcium Hydroxylapatite
Hyaluronic Acid – Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Esthelis.
Hyaluronic acid plays an important role giving volume to the skin, shape to the eyes and elasticity to the joints. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your skin and other tissues. Hyaluronic acid has a chemical structure similar in some ways to sugar. It is identical in all species and in all tissue types. Fillers are made from NASHA gel (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) and Bacteria which are in the lab. It does not come from any animal source.
Restylane and other Hyaluronic Acid based products are the world’s most utilized Dermal Fillers. Restylane is approved by the Canadian Government’s Health Products and Food Branch for the correction of wrinkles and for lip enhancement. Since 1996, Restylane has been used in over 3 million procedures worldwide. Studies show that the vast majority of clients were so happy with their results that they would be willing to have the treatment again.
The sizes of the NASHA gel particles is custom tailored to match the tissue structures in the skin being treated, and they are stabilized to form a continuous 3-dimensional molecular network. Nutrients, oxygen and hormones pass freely between the gel particles, maintaining the health and vitality of your skin. As the gel breaks down and becomes less concentrated, water takes its place in the skin. Due to its water-attracting nature, Restylane maintains its volume until it is almost fully degraded. Eventually the gel disappears unnoticed from the body.
Collagen - Evolence
Evolence is a Collagen base Filler. Evolence is sterile, biodegradable gel that is injected into the inner layers of facial skin - mid to deep dermis, to help correct moderate to deep facial wrinkles and folds such as those around the nose and mouth. Collagen based fillers last longer that Hyaluronic Acid based products, as it takes longer for our body to break them down.
Calcium Hydroxylapatite – Radiesse
Radiesse is a calcium based dermal filler that also stimulates your body to produce new collagen. Radiesse filler may last upto one year or more.

| Fillers feel like… |
|
The area of the body to be injected with Fillers is anesthetized with Local anesthetic
cream or ice, to make the injection comfortable. Lips are anesthetized to
inject them with Fillers. Some people find it helpful to take a couple of plain Tylenol
™ and/or Advil™ an hour or two before treatment to prevent discomfort.
Difference between Botox & Fillers
BOTOX® relaxes the muscles which cause many facial lines and unwanted facial
expressions. Fillers fill creases, lips, cheekbones, and also defects like acne scars.
Sometimes BOTOX® is used in combination with Fillers when treating certain areas
where permanent deep lines have resulted from over activity of the muscles, for
example some frown lines on the lower forehead or wrinkles around the lips.
Fillers are not for...
- People who have thin, loose skin in the area to be treated
- People who have unrealistic expectations (as with any treatment, you need to
have an accurate understanding of the likely benefits and risks of Fillers).
- Have a history of severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis, or
a history or presence of multiple severe allergies.
- Are allergic to the bacterial proteins (gram-positive) that it contains.
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding or younger than 18 years old.

| Why these concerns? |
|
Fillers are made from bacteria. Some people are allergic to the bacterial proteins
(gram-positive) that it contains. Also, researchers haven’t yet established Restylane’s
safety during pregnancy, breastfeeding or in people under 18.
Potential side effects
Some people have minor injection-related reactions. These include swelling, bruising,
redness, pain, itching, discolouration and tenderness at injection sites. These
typically resolve by themselves, usually within a few days for skin injections and
within a week for lip injections.
Facelift or Surgery after Fillers?
Yes, a face-lift can be performed after treatment with Fillers. The skin on the face is
thick enough to prevent the implants from becoming visible after a face-lift. Sometimes
the need for a facelift or other surgery can be reduced or eliminated by the
use of Fillers, or the need for repeated surgery can be delayed.
Fillers are:
- Long-lasting, but ultimately bio-degradable and non-permanent.
- Can last 6-12 months before being completely reabsorbed.
- Effects can be cumulative – smaller volumes are sometimes needed for
maintenance treatments.
- There are no animal ingredients.
- No skin test is needed.

- Correcting folds and wrinkles of the face
- Acne scars
- Nasolabial folds (between your nose, mouth and cheeks)
- Horizontal (upper forehead) frown lines
- Glabellar (lower forehead) frown lines
- Chin augmentation
- Depressed corners of the mouth, also known as marionette lines
- Lip enhancement, including treatment of the edges of the lips and wrinkles
around the lips to stop lipstick from leaking from your lips onto the surrounding skin.
- Cheek augmentation
Other uses of Fillers include:
- Filling subcutaneous skin defects
- Filling of orbits of the eyes
- Augmentation of cheek bones, chin or bridge of the nose
- Correcting some irregularities of the nose
- Filling small facial bone or hand bone defects
- Augmentation of the nipples
Dermal Fillers Pre Treatment
- Avoid alcoholic beverages within 48-24 hours prior to your treatment. Please avoid Red Wine one week prior to treatment.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Vioxx, etc.), Aspirin, Vitamin E, or Ginkgo Biloba one week prior to treatment. This will reduce the possible side effects of bruising and/or swelling in the treated area(s).
- Avoid products/treatments that boost metabolism (Diet pills and Endermologie) one week prior to treatment.
- Discontinue Retin-A three (3) days before and three (3) days after treatment.
- You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding to receive this treatment.
- Patients who have a history of recurring cold soars (Herpes simplex type1) should start oral Valtrex 500 mg tablets 2 days prior to your Fillers treatment and continue for 3 days after treatment.
- If you develop a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. prior to your appointment, you must reschedule.
- If you have a special event or vacation coming up, schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance.
- Start taking Arnica one day prior to treatment to reduce possibility of bruising.
Dermal Fillers Post Treatment
- After your treatment, you may experience some redness, itching and/or swelling. This should last less than seven days. Cold compresses may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling. If the redness and/or swelling or any other reactions do not go away after seven days, please contact your physician.
- If the pain is uncomfortable, use acetaminophen (Tylenol, Atasol) following the directions on the bottle. Do not use ASA (Aspirin) as it may increase bruising at the site of injection.
- Avoid touching the treated area for six hours following the treatment. After that, you can wash the area gently.
- It is important that the amount of movement in the area injected be immobilized as much as possible for the next 48-72 hours (minimize smoking and/or drinking from a straw). Your new implant requires this time to settle.
- Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until the redness and/or swelling go down.
- If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could cause a recurrence. Please speak to your physician about any medications that may minimize this recurrence.
- Avoid exercise and alcohol, especially Red wine for six hours after the treatment.
- Continue with Arnica for a few days post treatment to minimize bruising.
